Back in 1970-something, I sat in my 8th Grade English class and had fun drawing a bird that might look what my teacher jokingly called an “albagoose” (rather than an albatross) following the ship in Coleridge’s poem, “The Rime of the Ancient Marriner” – and voila! a new species of bird was born!
I’ve been drawing the Albagoose™ in different settings and characters ever since – mostly to give myself a chuckle … sometimes causing my girlfriend/now wife to roll her eyes at the corny Albagoose™ humor … and often adding a playful flair to greeting cards and envelopes sent to family members.
I often dreamed in the back of my mind that it would be fun to spread the Albagoose™ message of lighthearted humor and laid-back vibe out to the public, but that would mean the determination of legalities, content, funding … and oh yes, the need to find that “small” necessity – time! This website represents the fulfillment of a dream that has taken many years to gradually come together.
I hope glancing at an Albagoose™ Character and its associated message makes you smile! Their purpose is to make you laugh, roll-your-eyes, or perhaps consider their creator a little crazy!- any of those results take you. momentarily away from life and all its weightiness – well that’s the intent!
